About Us

Owners: Clare Marron and Peter Malyon

We have renovated the space and Monkitree is open. The walls have come down, floor has been finished, walls have been painted, and now we are open. While Monkitree is new, I am not new to the business. I have spent 15 years working for one of the top retailers of American Craft, Appalachian Spring. My other half, Peter, is the one with the Fine Arts Degree. Together we are putting together a great art gallery and retail space. We will have regular art openings and great gifts.

Where did the name come from?
We were looking for a name that would represent both of us, and well, Peter is a fan of monkeys. For me the only monkey connection I have is actually a tree. A perfect climbing tree that grew in our backyard growing up. That tree provided my sisters and me endless hours of enjoyment. That tree represented freedom, creative thought, and growth...we called it the Monkey Tree.
